Nina had been staying at Tanner’s apartment off and on for three weeks now. At first she had wondered if she made the right choice, coming back into Tanner’s life again, but he seemed so blissfully happy to have her back and she herself was the same way… it just seemed so right. There was only one hitch… she was two weeks late on her monthly cycles and she was beginning to feel sick through out the day and it was only getting more frequent.
It wasn’t that she was opposed to the idea of carrying Tanner’s child, she was actually very pleased and excited by the thought… she just didn’t want to burden him and tie him down. Even though they’d been together before, their relationship was still so new and they were still rediscovering each other, she didn’t want anything to be ruined. She wasn’t sure how he was going to take the news. She didn’t want Tanner to feel obligated to stay with her, but she didn’t want him to leave her and end the relationship either. With a sigh her eyes flickered to the sink.
There was only a minute left on the home pregnancy test and she could feel her heart trying to beat out of her chest. The little timer off to the side of the sink went off and she stood nervously, smoothing out the fabric of her shirt over her stomach subconsciously before walking to the test. Positive. Nina let out a breath she knew she’d probably been holding for a while now. She was pregnant.
She scooped the pregnancy test up, making sure the cap was firmly in place and that it was clean before she set in on the coffee table. Tanner would be home from work any minute, so she went to the kitchen and poured herself a small glass of wine and grabbed a beer for him and returned back to the living room. Her knees bobbed up and down as she shook her foot nervously and impatiently.
tanner-michaels:
“Are you still as flexible?” he teased, pressing his hips to hers as one hand came down to caress her bare thigh. He glanced at the clock before deciding that, for today, time was ignorable. His lips found her jaw and kissed along the line up to her ear, a low growl showing his intentions clearly.
A groan emitted from the petite blonde’s lips at the pressure of Tanner’s hips against hers. She remembered how they were when they were younger and it just seemed to pick back up like nothing happened. While she knew that eventually they would have to talk about what happened, that could wait. They were both insatiable, but they had a lot of time to make up for. Nina’s hands roamed the muscled planes of Tanner’s back as he kissed along her jaw. “You bet your ass I am,” She murmured, her mind flashing to the younger, pretty Brianna momentarily.
tanner-michaels:
Tanner smiled into the kiss, caught off guard by the intensity of it for a few moments before he returned it, sliding himself so that he could lean over her. His hand threaded in her hair. He’d probably brag about this a little when he got to the store the next day or perhaps he’d go to Dahlia’s and explain what had happened and how wondrous it was. For now though he was content in kissing her.
Nina almost laughed at their behavior. Suddenly it was like they were back in college, like they were still there, putting their hands on each other as often as they could get away with. She loved feeling Tanner’s smile against her lips; he’d been smiling so much since she crawled into his bed… she wondered how she had ever lived without it while trying not to feel guilty about being the cause for his lack of smiles. “It’s like we’re kids again,” she murmured, breaking the kiss for a moment to catch her breath.
tanner-michaels:
Tanner hummed into the kiss, wrapping his arms around her waist as he rolled onto his side, pulling her with him. If things could stay like that forever, he’d be the happiest man alive. It was as if the clock had rewound ten years and they were annoying Benjamin again and not caring.
Nina gave a happy sigh as one of her hands moved up to caress Tanner’s cheek. It was so easy to be with him, so incredibly easy to love him and she didn’t know why she had ever fought it. Tanner was a wonderful man, someone that she enjoyed nearly every minute with… She kissed him passionately, seemingly trying to make up for lost time and apologize all at the same time through that one kiss.
tanner-michaels:
Tanner smiled as her lips touched his neck, enjoying the dig into his shoulders. He rolled his shoulders a bit, getting more comfortable and after a few minutes, rolling over beneath her so that she was straddling him. He grinned up at her before leaning up to kiss her neck. “Couldn’t resist, sorry.”
Nina was surprised by the change of position, but didn’t protest as Tanner’s lips found her neck. “Don’t worry about it,” she murmured, tipping her head back a bit as she enjoyed the kiss. Her head fell forward again, her lips coming down to meet his in a tender kiss.
tanner-michaels:
Tanner closed his eyes at the feeling of her warm hands against his. They were so small, but he loved when she rubbed and kissed his back. He bit his lip, feeling the tension drip away without her really having to give him much pressure. Part of him wanted to roll over, hold her in his arms and kiss her again. That was probably why backrubs with him didn’t happen often, he wanted to hold her too much.
Nina moved up his legs to dig the heel of her hands gently into his shoulder blades, rubbing at the tense muscles that were there. She wondered what made him so tense and was worried that she had caused it over the years. Perhaps, though, it was just from working at his grocery store and lifting the boxes there. She kissed the nape of his neck as she began to rub his shoulders, adding a bit more pressure as she went.
tanner-michaels:
Tanner laid down on his stomach, turning his head so that he could watch her over his shoulder. His arms folded under a pillow and brought it to rest his head on. He moved a foot up to poke at her back, hoping to find a sensitive spot to make her jump or squeak or something of the like.
Nina grinned and squirmed away as his foot poked at her and she lightly slapped his foot. She climbed onto the back of his legs and sat with her legs on either side of him before she started gently rubbing at his lower back, working her way up as she peppered kisses on his shoulder blades. She didn’t know why she didn’t give him back rubs more often when they were together. She loved the feel of his muscly back beneath her delicate hands.
tanner-michaels:
Tanner grinned, leaning down and giving her a big kiss. “Wonderful,” he murmured against her lips, hesitant to leave until she promised to give him the backrub. He ran his hands over her shoulders, squeezing and applying pressure to them as he murmured, “I’ll go do that.” His fingers threaded into her hair as he gave her another lingering kiss before drawing away and heading towards the bed, tugging the shirt over his head as he went.
Nina was practically frozen at the sight of that grin of his, but managed to grin back at him, one of her hands going to up thread through his hair while he kissed her. The second kiss was lovely, something that she could definitely get used to again, but she stayed put, appreciating the view as he tugged off his shirt and showed his muscled back. She soon followed, slipping out of his shorts and climbing onto the bed with him, waiting for him to lay face down before she started.
tanner-michaels:
Tanner stroked her hair, letting out a little sigh at her words. “Does this mean you’ll be staying with me?” he asked, wanting her to say it directly to him. He combed his fingers through her hair, murmuring, “You still owe me a back rub, from sophomore year. You fell asleep instead.” He tried to lighten up the conversation, rather than dwelling on her leaving him.
And this was it. This was when she actually had to make a final decision. She was basically as high up as she could get when it came to journalism, considering the fact that she pretty much ran the Oz Observer single-handedly. Would Tanner be able to put up with her long hours and the time that she would have to spend at the office piecing together stories and editing articles? Would they even get to see each other?
Yes, she decided. They would get to see each other, Nina would make sure of that. She nodded into his chest at his question. “I’m yours,” she said. “I’m staying with you.” She chuckled at the memory of her falling asleep instead of giving him a back rub and pulled away slightly. “Tell you what,” she murmured. “Go get on your bed and I’ll give you that back rub,” she promised.
